Safety First!
Never, never, NEVER,
try to clear a blockage with your hands.
First make sure the 'mower is totally inert. If its electric - unplug it completely from the outlet, don't just switch it off!
If its a gas engine model switch it off and remove the key. If possible - pull off the spark plug cap!
To clear the blockage, use a piece of wood such as a broom handle.
Wear ear protection.
These suckers can be LOUD, especially the gas engine models. Do your ears a favor, invest in some ear protection.
DO NOT wear loose clothing!
You're working with a powerful machine with a set of rapidly spinning blades. You don't want to risk
any loose clothing getting tangled up in the works. Think
Isadora Duncan!
DO NOT start your gas engine lawn mower in the garage or an enclosed space.
Carbon-monoxide from the exhaust builds up quickly and is very poisonous. Don't take any chances. Start
your 'blower in the great outdoors.
Riding Mowers are NOT for kids!
Don't interfere with the safety release handle!
Yes, it can be tempting to duct tape the safety release handle open. Don't do it.
Watch your feet!
No sandles or flip-flops. Wear some stout shoes.
Eye Protection - wear those safett glasses!
Safety glasses are cheap. Your eyes are not. Enough said.
